Le laboratoire TELEMMe et le WebLab auront le plaisir d’accueillir les 12 et 13 mars 2026 le Board de RESAW pour un interlude, prenant place entre la dernière conférence de Siegen (Allemagne) de 2025, et celle qui aura prochainement lieu en 2027 à Groningen (Pays Bas).
RESAW, tenant son nom de Research Infrastructure for the Study of Archived Web Materials (Infrastructure de Recherche sur l’Etude des Matériels du Web Archivé) a été établi en 2012 par Niels Brügger, afin de promouvoir une recherche européenne collaborative sur les archives du web. Le Board de RESAW rassemble les organisateurs des conférences depuis leur lancement en 2015.
L’interlude aura lieu le jeudi 12 et le vendredi 13, en format hybride. Sur place, en salle Seurat à la médiathèque de la MMSH seront présents Niels Brügger, professeur à l’université d’Aarhus, et Susan Aasman, professeure à l’université de Groningen. Le reste des membres du Board, Valérie Schafer (Université du Luxembourg), Jane Winters (University of London), Anne Helmond (Utrecht University) et Sebastien Giessman (University of Siegen) participeront à l’interlude en visioconférence. Durant deux journées d’atelier, il s’agira de dresser le bilan des nombreuses actions menées par le collectif RESAW depuis sa création, et d’établir ensemble les priorités et les actions à mettre en place selon une visée prospective, en prenant en considération les bouleversements qui agitent le domaine de l’archivage du web. Cette réflexion collective donnera lieu à la rédaction d’un texte programmatique qui sera proposé pour publication au comité éditorial de la revue Internet Histories: Digital Technology, Culture and Society. L’interlude permettra donc au Board d’aborder des questions essentielles à un moment charnière entre les deux conférences bi-annuelles de 2025 et 2027.
En 2023, la conférence bi-annuelle de la communauté s’est déroulée à Aix-en-Provence, grâce à l’organisation et l’implication de Sophie Gebeil et Jean-Christophe Peyssard. Intitulée Exploring the Archived Web During a Highly Transformative Age, cet événement a conduit ses organisateurs à fonder le WebLab la même année, afin de poursuivre la réflexion sur l’usage de l’archivage du web en SHS depuis la MMSH dans
L’interlude est organisé par Sophie Gebeil et Meriem Bataoui du laboratoire TELEMMe, dans le cadre de la Chaire IUF “L’archivage du Web comme défi historiographique : entre fragmentation et médiation”. Il bénéficie du soutien de Jean-Christophe Peyssard, responsable de la médiathèque de la MMSH et co-créateur du WebLab.
The Future of RESAW: A Collective Reflection Interlude. March 12-13, 2026
The TELEMMe laboratory and the WebLab will have the pleasure of hosting the RESAW Board on March 12 and 13, 2026, for an interlude taking place between the last conference in Siegen (Germany) in 2025 and the upcoming one scheduled for 2027 in Groningen (the Netherlands).
RESAW, which stands for Research Infrastructure for the Study of Archived Web Materials, was established in 2012 by Niels Brügger to promote collaborative European research on web archives. The RESAW Board brings together the conference organizers since their launch in 2015.
The interlude will take place on Thursday,12 and Friday, 13 in a hybrid format. On site, in the Seurat room at the MMSH media library, Niels Brügger, professor at Aarhus University, and Susan Aasman, professor at the University of Groningen, will be present. The other Board members, Valérie Schafer (University of Luxembourg), Jane Winters (University of London), Anne Helmond (Utrecht University), and Sebastien Giessman (University of Siegen), will participate in the interlude via videoconference. During these two days of workshops, the goal will be to take stock of the numerous initiatives carried out by the RESAW collective since its creation, and to collectively establish priorities and future actions with a forward-looking perspective, taking into account the transformations affecting the field of web archiving. This collective reflection will lead to the drafting of a programmatic text that will be proposed for publication to the editorial committee of the journal Internet Histories: Digital Technology, Culture and Society. The interlude will thus allow the Board to address essential questions at a pivotal moment between the two biennial conferences of 2025 and 2027.
In 2023, the community’s biennial conference took place in Aix-en-Provence, thanks to the organization and involvement of Sophie Gebeil and Jean-Christophe Peyssard. Entitled Exploring the Archived Web During a Highly Transformative Age, this event led its organizers to found the WebLab the same year, in order to continue reflecting on the use of web archiving in the humanities and social sciences from the MMSH.
The interlude is organized by Sophie Gebeil and Meriem Bataoui from the TELEMMe laboratory, as part of the IUF Chair « Web Archiving as a Historiographical Challenge: Between Fragmentation and Mediation. » It benefits from the support of Jean-Christophe Peyssard, head of the MMSH media library and co-creator of the WebLab.
